The Geoff Pearson Quartet

Geoff PearsonBassist, Geoff Pearson, has played with many US jazz giants, such as Art Farmer, Johnny Griffin, and Scott Hamilton, as well as UK jazz greats and 'Castle favourites' such as Jim Mullen, Dave O'Higgins and Alan Barnes.

He is a renowned bassist who has played at most of the major UK jazz festivals and is one of the most in-demand musicians. His Quartet can be relied upon to play accessible, versatile, eclectic and vibrant contemporary jazz.

Geoff Pearson is accompanied by the vastly-experienced Ian Hill, on saxes, Neil Hunter, on keyboards, and Ian Beestin, on drums.

Ian Hill's musical roots arise from the bluebeat, ska & reggae loved by his Caribbean parents, and the pop, soul, jazz fusion & bebop of his youth. He is a regular on the Midlands jazz circuit, where he is involved with groups such as 'Miles Davis with Words'.

Neil Hunter studied classical piano and organ at Newcastle Cathedral and since the 1980s has focused on jazz, Latin, fusion and related genres. He built his reputation as a sideman with artistes such as Tony Kofi and Sonny Bradshaw.

Ian Beestin is a hugely experienced player with countless gigs and festival appearances to his credit. His most recent performances include backing Jacqui Wicks at on the jazz stage at Glastonbury 2010, and rising vibes star Jim Hart in Nottingham. Ian also plays drums with guitarist Matt Chandler's Trio and can be heard on Matt's critically-acclaimed debut album After Midnight.
