Dave Newton Trio with Martin Shaw

Dave Newton The pianist, Dave Newton, appears with his trio, Andy Cleyndert, on bass, and Steve Brown, on drums, and features Martin Shaw on trumpet.

Dave Newton's sensitivity as a player may explain why he has been, for many years, the favourite accompanist of singers, most notably, Stacey Kent. His playing is thoughtful and displays both lightness of touch and classical lyricism. He is one of those musicians who can be taken for granted simply because he has been playing jazz beautifully for so many years. Sometimes, his choice of material can be surprising.
